Parliament Hill Program

The Parliament Hill Program is one of RRRA’s most recognized services. Whether you have an interest in Canadian politics, aspire to work for the government, or just want to get real-life experience in an office setting, this is your chance. This program provides students the opportunity to work with a Member of Parliament or Senator based on their political affiliation. This unpaid position has helped hundreds of Carleton students over the past years.

To apply please follow the application guidelines below. Interested candidates must fill out the form at the end of the page. Please note that the Parliament Hill program only offers a limited number of positions and it is up to the MPs on how many volunteers they are able to take on. This is a competitive opportunity and a position is not guaranteed. You may apply to all open political affiliations if you would like to do so but must submit 2 separate applications. Internships will run from October - April (dates are dependant on MP). Thank you for your interest!

Available political affiliations this year:

• Liberal
• Conservative
• NDP
• Green Party
• Independent

Requirements:

• Must be a Carleton University Student
• Must be proficient in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
• French proficiency is an asset (speaking, reading and writing)
• Candidates must be able to volunteer up to 10 hours a week (dependent on MP)

Application Guidelines:

• 1 page Cover Letter PDF format (File naming format 'FirstnameLastnameCoverLetter.pdf')
• 1-2 page Resume PDF format (File naming format 'FirstnameLastnameResume.pdf')
• Fill out Google Form and answer all questions

Application Process:

Candidates will have their applications reviewed and sent to MP offices with their shared political affiliation. MP's will then review and reach out to candidates. Please note that you may not hear back if you are unsuccessful. MP's may take 2-4 weeks for hiring.
