About RRRA

The Rideau River Residence Association (RRRA) is Canada’s oldest and largest residence association, representing over 3,600 undergraduate students in residence. RRRA takes pride in setting standards for leadership in serving as the student’s voice in residence; it ensures the quality of life is conducive to the achievement of high academic goals.

The Association was built in 1968, initially with Renfrew and Lanark as women's residences, and Russell and Grenville as men's residence houses. Now there are 11 residence buildings, with all their residents being automatic members of our organization.

Residence life provides students the opportunity for both academic and personal growth, while new experiences help them expand their horizons and knowledge.

The RRRA office is located at the heart of the residence, in 232 Residence Commons. Students are welcomed to visit the executives, enjoy a snack or two, or play some video games in the lounge area. Right across the hall is Abstentions, Carleton's only convenience store, which houses your favourite snacks and drinks for late-night study sessions, and essentials to save you from a trip to the grocery store.

2018 marked the Association's 50th anniversary. To celebrate, RRRA hosted a variety of events to commemorate tradition and also introduced new events. Some of the events RRRA hosted in the 2018-2019 academic year included the boat cruise, a Lemonade & Chill day, and the traditional Residence Formal - the theme was Vegas style! Since then, we have continued to ensure we represent the issues and interests of residence students in everything we do, and work hand in hand with campus partners to ensure every student leaves residence at the end of the year with positive and impactful experiences to start their university experience on a good note.
