2022-2023 RRRA Councillors

DUNDAS HOUSE

Isabella Risi: All throughout high school I was a part of various extracurriculars such as my school’s student council, yearbook committee, and lighthouse team. These clubs have taught me many skills such as leadership, the importance of reliability and how to advocate for others.

John Lu: As an RRRA councillor, I can bring ideas about events we can host during Halloween and before Christmas. Besides bringing happy vibes, I would communicate and represent my floor mates to the best of my ability! A first year Computer Science Student that loves getting to know other people and taking every opportunity I can get my hands on. I can be spotted Dundas 4th floor’s common room. My goal is to become one of the best software engineers at Carleton. One fun fact about me is that I got into my first hack-a-thon a minute before the registration got filled!

Oliver Davey: Hello everyone, I’m Oliver, a first-year student here at Carleton. My family lives in Ottawa but I decided to stay in residence to meet new people and experience life on my own. I’m both a member of the Carleton Men’s Rugby Team and on the Computer Science Society. I hope to help organize events that cater to different student interests and provide positive environments for students to meet new people. Some of the events I'm interesting in running are a campus-wide mini golf tournament building/floor related competitions. My goal is to make not just my floor, but every student's stay in residence better and more meaningful than before.

GLENGARRY HOUSE

Giulia Ryan: As a councillor, I can bring strong leadership, creativity, and commitment to RRRA. Throughout my life I’ve been a great leader and involved in many leadership roles. In high school I was the captain of the Varsity Girls Hockey team and the Secretary of the Young Women in Leadership Club. With that being said, I know what it means to be a leader and how to be a team player which I think is crucial in order to be a RRRA councillor. I'm quite an artsy and creative person, so I love utilizing my artistic talents to plan and organize events, posters, etc. Throughout high school I helped plan events such as a banquet for International Women’s Day and prom. I also designed and drew a poster for sexual assault resources for my school board to hang in schools across Halton. For those reasons, I strongly believe I would be a great fit for RRRA.

Dylan Butler: Hey, I’m Dylan! As the councillor for Glengarry 11, I am beyond excited for all that this year will entail. A bit about me - I am in my first year of the Public Affairs and Policy Management program. I am from Cambridge, Ontario, and I enjoy playing soccer, cards, travelling, public speaking, and spending time with friends! I look forward to furthering my prior experience in supporting other students. In high school, I was a part of my school’s Student Activities Council, and I also volunteered with the Federation of Canadian Secondary Students. Upon completion of my involvement in these activities, I am confident that I will be someone students can count on, trust, and rely on to help ensure their voices are heard. I am ecstatic to contribute my efforts to ensure everyone has an enjoyable, inclusive, and fun time in residence.

GRENVILLE HOUSE

Aidan Rohacek: Aiden is a first-year PAPM student living in 3rd Grenville. He hopes to use this opportunity to make Residence Life easier and more affordable for his fellow students. Aiden is looking forward to the great things RRRA Council can accomplish this year.

LANARK HOUSE

Bradford Ward: Having served as a Student Trustee for the Upper Canada District School Board during my grade 12 year, I already have one year’s worth of experience representing the needs and interests of thousands of my fellow students. Furthermore, as a student living on residence I would be able to understand and voice the concerns of my fellow students who are also living on residence. I enjoy getting involved in various student-lead/run organizations, such as Student Council, Student Senate, OSAID, and Equity and Inclusion Committees, which I participated in during high-school. I am a committed, hardworking student with strong time-management, teamwork, and communication skills, and I would be honoured to bring my experience and commitment to the Rideau River Residence Association.

LEEDS HOUSE

Ben Bourn Flosman: I want to ensure that campus meets the needs of its students, whether that be through promoting accessibility for all, creating initiatives to make campus life more vibrant, or just generally representing the wishes of the student body. For questions, DM my Instagram @bbflosman.

Katryna Abar: In my former position, I directed various COVID-19 vaccine distribution initiatives. The advent of COVID-19 vaccinations required the adoption of novel systems which afforded me the opportunity to devise strategies for overcoming technological challenges, improving access to vaccinations, and offering assistance to vaccine-hesitant individuals. These factors contributed to the rise in the number of vaccinations administered to the residents of Sudbury and surrounding areas. Using my passion for innovation and adaptability, I intend to continue serving members of the community. As a student who transferred from Laurentian University, where there was poor allocation of funds and a seemingly underwhelming amount of student advocate committees, I understand how important it is to establish an environment where issues are effectively communicated and addressed to contribute to positive student outcomes and morale.

LENNOX & ADDINGTON HOUSE

Malaika Collette (she/her): Is a first year Environmental Studies student, living on the first floor of Lennox and Addington. She is excited to represent her floor and serve on RRRA council to make this a memorable year for all resident students. Malaika looks forward to working with fellow councillors to create meaningful change on campus.

Reece: All throughout high school I was a part of various extracurriculars such as my school’s student council, yearbook committee and lighthouse team. These clubs have taught me many skills such as leadership, the importance of reliability and how to advocate for others.

PRESCOTT HOUSE

Caleb Aitken: I will advocate for your time here on residence so you can have a safe, studious, and memorable year. I promise to listen to and act on the thoughts of my floor. I will be available, attentive, and active to ensure your voice on residence is heard. Thank you for letting me represent you, 6th Prescott.

RENFREW HOUSE

Allan Buri: If you’re looking for someone who can make sense out of just about any type of meeting, look no further than Allan Buri! I bring with me a robust set of advocacy and planning skills from my experiences on multiple levels of student government throughout my high school career: as a member of my students’ council for four consecutive years, as a board Student Senator, and as the board’s student representative on the board Parent Council. In each of these roles, I was responsible for translating the ideas and desires of my fellow students into an achievable plan that would realize them. And that is exactly what I plan on doing as RRRA Councillor. In addition to those commitments, I’m also a basketball, soccer and piano player! So if you see me, I’m always eager to talk about how we can get real value out of our year in Renfrew!

RUSSELL HOUSE

Emma Mantler: I think that as an individual with a strong background in community volunteering in things such as school wellness groups and family and children services, I would be-able to truly work with others to help maintain a great environment.

Connor Dobrin: Russell 4 is an extremely connected community, everyone has gotten along so far and I have made it a point to reach out to as many people as I could and make myself known on my floor. I am good at giving my opinions in clear ways, and the opinions of others that are not willing to speak up for themselves. In short, I am dedicated to making the lives of my peers and I better.

STORMONT HOUSE

Sam Hernandez: As a RRRA councillor, I can promise to represent 3rd Stormont with enthusiasm and vouch for everyone's needs and ideas.

Gabriel Trozzi Stamou: Gabriel is a 1st year Public Affairs and Policy Management student living in 4th Stormont (Swampmont). He is looking forward to representing his floor on RRRA council and using this opportunity to echo the voices of students living in residence. Gabriel is committed to working with other councillors in making residence more fun, convenient, and hassle-free.
